 Week 6 - Term 2 2021

We are over halfway through term one, and Autumn has taken hold with some lovely rain and cooler nights. We are back down to Level 1 now and invite you back into the school, please though remember that if your child isn't well to keep them at home.

Last week, we finished off our time with Henk. The students and teachers learned a lot and had fun with him. We will be swimming again this week in preparation for our Swimming sports day on Monday 22nd March for our Kahikatea and Totara teams. We have been working hard to establish routines with the students over the past few weeks. We still quite a few students that are forgetting to charge their Chromebooks, or bring their hats or headphones, please help to establish this routine at home.
Students at this point should be getting their work done at school, we ask that parents read with the students each night at home for 20mins.
The children, if managing their time, should be able to get their progressions and units completed in Math-Whizz and Lexia at school.

This week in R.E. we will be looking at the Stations of the Cross and invite you to come to the 10:00 Friday, Stations of the Cross Liturgy, with us in the church.
Room 12 is on the Friday assembly this week and we would love to have you join us at 2:10 in the Hall.
Important Events Coming Up:
- First Aid Fundraiser (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) ice blocks for $1.00 - Swimming every day. Thank you for ensuring your children have their togs, towels, and goggles. - Library is on Tuesday
-RATS Duathlon event is taking place on Tuesday. - School Gala has been set for Friday, March 15th. A new countdown will be issued to children to take home this week. It is OK for families to bring stuff in earlier this week if they wish.

Friendly Reminders: - Chromebooks need to come to school charged. As we are a BYOD school, many of our learning activities now require devices. Headphones are essential please. - Each child needs a school hat. They can be purchased from the uniform shop for $13.
- Please LABEL your children's clothing, we have quite a few issues with shorts/dresses ending up on the wrong body.
- If you need headphones still, Kmart, The Warehouse, or school have them ranging in price from $8
-Please collect bread tags and yummy stickers, if you need a chart please have your child come see Mrs. Dinniss

  Bonjour to all Parents and Caregivers, Firstly we would like to thank all parents and caregivers for the wonderful work they have been doing with homeschooling their children during the level 4 covid-19 lockdown. We hope you have had no problems accessing the learning on the Middle School Kahikatea site. Remember that all the information regarding home learning can be found on the class blog from either this week or last week. If you have any concerns or questions do not hesitate to contact me. We realise that many parents will be working from home and that time to help children with their learning may be limited. The learning posted on the site is intended to be independent work for the children as much as possible. Please encourage your child to do as much work as is feasible given the lockdown realities in your household bubble. Welcome back to the 2021 school year at St Mary's

  Welcome back from the holidays.  I hope you have all had a lovely rest and enjoyed having fun and family time.  I am looking forward to meeting everyone over the next two days as we begin our learning journey together.  Thank you for making appointment times so promptly.
