Weekly Notices, Term 2, Week 5

May 30, 2021 Talofa Room 16 Whānau Week 4 was busy with some really awesome events. We had students participating in a successful Cross Country when they were able to see their fitness training pay off. On Thursday we had a wonderful Pentecost liturgy run by the Kākano team.  What's happening this week: It is Samoan Language Week. On Wednesday and Friday lunchtime, Mr. MacMillan will be in Kakano with some Samoan-related activities for all students to have a go at.  Wednesday: Kapa Haka 2pm, Gymnastics lunchtime Thursday: Library Day - Room 16 Fri: Showquest rehearsals, Pasifika and Choir groups meet Friendly Reminders: - Chromebooks need to come to school charged. As we are a BYOD school, many of our learning activities now require devices. Headphones are essential, please. If your child's Chromebook is not working, I recommend contacting Paul (see contact details below). - Please LABEL your children's clothing, we have quite a few issues with jerseys/fleeces ending up on

Assembly - Rooms 16 and 17

 Last Friday Rooms 16 and 17 ran the assembly and many of the children were able to have a role in the event. Everybody performed at their best and the audience enjoyed our items and our humour. Well done to all children.

Weekly Notices, Term 2, Week 4

Weekly Notices May 23, 2021 Tena Koutou ,  to all our students and parents. We had a wonderful Ascension liturgy on Thursday, run by the Kahikatea team and an assembly on Friday, run by Rooms 16 and 17. Thank you to all our parents who came to watch. This week we are developing our concept of healthy lifestyles. On Friday we will be looking at eating healthily, exercising through games, and the ability to self-regulate through mindfulness. We also have Cross country this Wednesday in the afternoon. Children will get changed into their P.E. gear at the school before being transported to the Red Woods. More info below. Pick up needs to be at 2:30pm.  There are spelling words every week on the Kahikatea site - spelling tab. These words are connected to the phonics programme we run. Play Based Learning

 When children get the opportunity to Freeplay in the morning before structured lessons they make a wide variety of choices. Some children prefer quiet activities sitting down, others like to construct things and others prefer energetic games. 

Weekly Notices, Term 2, Week 3

  Week 3 Notices -  May 16, 2021 Malo e lelei to all our students and parents. We have had some wonderful learning taking place over the last few weeks. Our concept for this term is Health and Wellbeing and our children took part in some wonderful ignition activities, learning alongside different teachers and seeing the importance of eating healthily, exercising, and learning how important parts of our bodies need to be looked after and also the ability to self regulate through mindfulness. These will hopefully spark some interest and passion for our children. It is important to discuss this at home with your child too. Rooms 16 and 17 will be running the assembly this Friday. All parents and caregivers are welcome to come along. Assembly starts at 2:05. Many children will have a roll in the assembly.   Week 2 Term 2 -  2021 May 9th 2021 Kia ora Whānau Happy Mother’s Day to our ‘Mums” today. We hope you have a special day with your loved ones.  Thank you for taking the time to come in for the 3 Way Goal Setting Conferences. If you were unable to make it in please touch base and we can make another meeting time.  Thank you to our children who dressed up for 'Children’s World of Prayer' day. It is always nice to see children wearing their national costumes with pride. The mini-marathon on Friday was a great day out. It's nice to see our whanau support, running, and cheering on our tamariki, thank you. If you haven't filled out the transportation form for the Cross Country day please do so, we will be needing parent support on the day both for transportation and marshalling if you are able to help we would appreciate it.   Welcome back to Term  2 - May 2nd 2021   Welcome back to Term 2, we hope you had a wonderful holiday and are rested and ready for another busy term. I am looking forward to meeting with everyone at the 3-way conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.  Thanks to those who have already made appointments.  If you have not done so already, here is some information from Mrs Cato. It is a school expectation that all children attend with at least one parent or caregiver. If you are unable to come at these times for any reason please contact Mr Bach to make alternative arrangements. Students and their parent(s) need to attend a 10-minute appointment on one of these two days.
